Job Title: PCB Layout Engineer (6 to 12 Month Contract)
Location: Leeds (3 days a week on-site)

I'm currently working with a leader in Aerospace, Defence & Security, who are seeking a highly skilled PCB Layout Engineer to support their dynamic engineering team on a contract basis.
Job Description:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced PCB Layout Engineer to join their team for a 6 to 12-month contract. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, layout, and optimisation of printed circuit boards (PCBs). You'll work closely with electrical engineers, mechanical designers, and manufacturing team to ensure that our PCB designs meet performance, reliability, and manufacturability requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and layout complex multi-layer PCBs, ensuring signal integrity, thermal management, and mechanical constraints are met.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing engineers to develop and refine PCB designs.
- Perform design reviews and provide feedback to improve design quality and manufacturability.
- Generate and maintain all necessary documentation, including Gerber files, BOMs, and assembly drawings.
- Interface with PCB fabrication and assembly vendors to ensure that designs are built to specification and resolve any issues that arise during manufacturing.
- Implement DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFT (Design for Test) principles in all PCB layouts.
- Keep up-to-date with industry trends, tools, and best practices in PCB design and layout.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related field.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in PCB layout and design.
- Proficient in PCB design tools such as Altium Designer, OrCAD, or similar software.
- Strong understanding of high-speed design, impedance control, and EMI/EMC considerations.
- Experience with multi-layer PCB design, including HDI, rigid-flex, and mixed-signal designs.
- Knowledge of industry standards (e.g., IPC, JEDEC) and familiarity with DFM/DFT principles.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with power electronics or RF PCB design.
- Familiarity with PLM systems and version control for PCB designs.
- Previous experience in a similar contract role.
